Transportation Impact, First Flight Solutions among the nation’s fastest-growing private businesses for fifth straight year according to Inc 5000

Emerald Isle, N.C. (August 16, 2017) – Transportation Impact again has ranked among Inc. magazine’s Inc 5000 list of the fastest-growing private businesses in America, the fifth consecutive year the company has earned the distinction.

“As a fifth-time honoree, you are part of a very select group of companies,” Inc. President and Editor-in-Chief Eric Schurenburg said in an email to TI CEO Keith Byrd. “Fewer than a tenth of the Inc. 5000 honorees . . . ever achieve this milestone. Your repeat Inc. 5000 honors truly put you in rarefied company.”

First Flight Solutions, of which Transportation Impact is majority owner, also found its way to the list for the fifth straight time, and the two companies were two of only three North Carolina logistics firms able to claim that honor.

“This was our goal when we started the business,” Co-Founder Travis Burt said in an address to the company during its semi-annual sales meeting in July. “It’s humbling to stand here in front of you today to let you know that we’ve reached that goal, and it’s thanks to each of you for helping us get here.”

The North Carolina-based supply chain management firm has grown tremendously since Burt and Byrd founded it in 2008. With nearly 800 customers, Transportation Impact specializes in helping high-volume small package and LTL freight shippers reduce the costs associated with those services.

Currently TI manages over a billion dollars in logistics spend. To date, they’ve helped their customers save more than 250 million.

“It’s hard to believe we’ve come so far in such a short period of time,” Byrd said. “It truly is a testament to our people and the hard work they put in each day. We’ve also had the pleasure of working with some great people at some great companies, each of whom has put a lot of faith in our team to deliver positive results to their respective organizations.”

For 2016, Transportation Impact and First Flight Solutions grew revenues 19 percent and 29 percent, respectively, and added a total of nine new employees. So far in 2017, the companies have added 11 additional staff, and each project to exceed prior-year growth.

“We are very fortunate,” said Byrd. “We’ve had a lot of support along the way. We are excited to share this accomplishment with our staff and our community — anyone and everyone who helped us get here.”
