Emerald Isle, N.C. (May 17, 2019) — Business North Carolina has named Transportation Impact of Emerald Isle as its 2019 Best Employer in the small to medium category. The honor reflects a company culture that emphasizes a supportive atmosphere, giving and humanity, and approachable leaders and managers, as well as a commitment to North Carolina, where the company has been located since its inception in 2008. This is the second consecutive year that TI has ranked first in this category.

“This designation as Business NC Best Employer is an honor to our employees, all of whom are so deserving of this award. We are grateful to each of them for being the amazing employees they are and for chasing opportunities every day to go above and beyond in what they do. We truly appreciate the motivation, energy, and creativity each possesses to carry out our mission with such dedication,” said John Howard, Vice President of Operations at Transportation Impact.

“Best Employers in North Carolina” is an initiative dedicated to finding and recognizing North Carolina’s best employer of 2019. The free statewide program is managed by the Best Companies Group, which uses a two-part process to survey both employers and their employees on dozens of topics, from recruiting practices to recognition programs. The award is presented in conjunction with Business North Carolina magazine.

“This award only reaffirms what I already know—we are blessed to work for such a great company that cares so much about its employees, its community, and working hard and playing hard. To win this award year after year means that as we continue to grow, we are doing things right,” said Giovanna Rossi, Senior Freight Associate at Transportation Impact.

The award is also valuable for attracting quality talent to the company, which is located in a small beach town some distance from a major city. “From an HR standpoint, it means a lot as I recruit new employees because this award validates our amazing culture for our prospective candidates and also makes us an employer of choice!” said Britt Vinson, Human Resources Specialist at Transportation Impact.

Some of the factors that propelled Transportation Impact to the top of the “Best Employer” 2019 list are tuition assistance, profit-sharing, on-site fitness facilities and massage services, a comprehensive benefits plan, 401(k) with discretionary company match, increased company medical insurance contribution, Good Friday and employee birthdays off, $100 restaurant gift cards for employee birthdays, use of company condos, free NC Aquarium membership, gym reimbursement, bicycles for employee use, on-site yoga, quarterly employee events, company-paid life insurance, sustainable practices, and telecommuting.
