Emerald Isle, N.C. (May 20, 2019) — Transportation Impact is honored to announce that for the third consecutive year the company has been named one of Inc. magazine’s Best Workplaces in the fast-growing private company sector.
Founded in 2008 by shipping industry veterans Keith Byrd and Travis Burt, TI helps companies save money on small package and freight shipping costs and has developed a formidable reputation as a community steward and sought-after employer.
Tens of thousands of employees from more than 2,000 companies were surveyed to discover which private American companies have created exceptional workplaces through vibrant cultures, deep employee engagement, and stellar benefits.
Developed in partnership with employee engagement and work culture experts Quantum Workplace of Omaha, NE, Inc.’s Best Workplaces list is a magnifying glass on how innovative companies can truly raise the bar in hiring and retaining the best talent. TI was one of only twelve companies from the Logistics & Transportation sector to earn the honor.
“To be ranked for the third year in a row by Inc. on the Best Workplaces list is an absolute testament to the invaluable people that have a dedication and passion for working at TI. We are humbled and thrilled to accept this honor. Every single person in our company exhibits our core values and deserves all the credit for our continued success,” said Berkley Stafford, Vice President of Sales at Transportation Impact.
What does it take to become a company that workers want to be part of? Inc. magazine says it’s more than good pay and good perks — it’s also about having a clear purpose, a sense of humor, and leadership that makes them all work together.
“Being named an Inc. Best Workplace for the third year in a row is very humbling. All year we work hard and play hard — we volunteer countless hours for the local community, serve our clients with the best customer service, strive to develop the most effective technology, and so much more. Our people are the best in every way, and I am proud to be a member of the TI family,” said Jillian Farrington, Marketing Coordinator at Transportation Impact.
The Inc. Best Workplaces Awards for 2019 assessed applicants on the basis of benefits offered and employees’ responses to a 30-question survey. All companies had to have minimum of 10 employees and to be U.S.-based, privately held, and independent — that is, not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies.
From the survey responses, Inc. and Quantum saw distinct themes develop:
TI is a 6-time Inc. 5000 honoree and has experienced nearly 117% growth in employee headcount over the last two years. The company prides itself on having happy, team-driven employees, largely due to perks like an aggressive 401(k) match, profit sharing, cash-balance plans, healthcare subsidy, flexible working hours (including paid summertime Friday afternoons off), paid paternity leave, car washes, bicycles for employee use, and even on-site massages and yoga.
Just over two years ago, the company launched its IMPACT1 initiative, which provides each employee with 20 hours of paid volunteer time and is part of an overall pledge to donate one percent of the company’s profits to charity, one percent of its employees’ time to community involvement, and one percent of its services in goodwill to charitable organizations that would benefit from Transportation Impact’s services.
“Our company culture and core values aren’t just chapters in the employee handbook – they truly define who we are as a team,” said Danielle Crump, Partner Development Supervisor at Transportation Impact.
“This award showcases how great our organization is because of the people who work here.”
Transportation Impact, 3-time Inc. Best Workplace, leverages proprietary technology unique to the industry that ensures our customers pay the lowest possible small parcel and LTL rates. In our 10-year existence TI has won numerous awards, including six consecutive placements on the Inc. 5000 (2013–18), three consecutive placements on the North Carolina Fast 40 and the Grant Thornton NC 100 (2016–18), Entrepreneur 360 Best Company 2018, CAI Ovation Award 2018, and Business NC Best Workplace 2018 and 2019.
