Emerald Isle, NC (May 5, 2020) – Transportation Impact is thrilled to announce that for the fourth consecutive year the company has been named one of Inc. magazine’s Best Workplaces in the fast-growing private company sector.

Founded in 2008 by shipping industry veterans Keith Byrd and Travis Burt, TI helps companies save money on small package and freight shipping costs and has developed a formidable reputation as a community steward and sought-after employer.

Thousands of companies applied for the award, which recognizes 395 private American companies that have created exceptional workplaces through vibrant cultures, deep employee engagement, and stellar benefits.

“Clearly, Transportation Impact has gone to extraordinary lengths to attract, develop, and maintain its workforce, and surely understands, as many of us are now realizing, that place is only part of a workplace, and that it’s your extraordinary people and teams that make the real difference,” wrote Scott Omelianuk, Editor-in-Chief of Inc. Magazine, in an email congratulating TI on the award.

Developed in partnership with employee engagement and work culture experts Quantum Workplace of Omaha, NE, Inc.’s Best Workplaces list is a magnifying glass on how innovative companies can truly raise the bar in hiring and retaining the best talent. TI was one of only 10 companies from the Logistics & Transportation sector to earn the honor.

“We are immensely honored to receive this recognition for a fourth consecutive year,” said Transportation Impact CEO Berkley Stafford. “As a company we all care about each other, and we all work together to accomplish remarkable things. To know that our employees feel rewarded and valued and take pride in their work means that we as leaders have succeded in creating a supportive atmosphere that helps our employees reach their greatest potential.”

The 2020 Inc. Best Workplaces Awards assessed applicants on the basis of benefits offered and employees’ responses to a 30-question survey. All companies had to have minimum of 10 employees and to be U.S.-based, privately held, and independent — that is, not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies.

TI is a 7-time Inc. 5000 honoree and has experienced nearly 16.7% growth in employee headcount over the last year. The company’s average length of service is 4-6 years, largely due to perks like an aggressive 401(k) match, profit sharing, healthcare subsidy, flexible working hours (including paid summertime Friday afternoons off), paid paternity leave, car washes, and bicycles for employee use.

In early 2017, the company launched its IMPACT1 initiative, which provides each employee with 20 hours of paid volunteer time and is part of an overall pledge to donate one percent of the company’s profits to charity, one percent of its employees’ time to community involvement, and one percent of its services in goodwill to charitable organizations.

“Our company culture and core values truly define who we are as a team and as a company,” said Jamie Vogel, VP Sales & Marketing at Transportation Impact. “They reflect the genuine qualities we all possess at TI: integrity, expertise, passion for our clients and the work we do, but above all else, kindness.”
